Fire Chiefs across the country, including those in South Simcoe are calling on residents to test their smoke alarms September 28th.
It’s part of Test Your Smoke Alarm Day.
133 people in Ontario died due to fires in 2022… the highest number in over 20 years.
Many of the fires were found to not have working smoke alarms, if any at all.
It is recommended you testing smoke alarms at least once a month… change the batteries at least once a year…and replacing the entire unit if it is over 10 years old.
A free, downloadable resources is available so everyone can learn about fire safety and share images of themselves testing their smoke alarms.
