If you’re a big reader, you’ll want to stop by an Indigo store tomorrow!
The big book chain is launching a new campaign, which features them giving away 10,000 free books across the country. Indigo founder, CEO, and Chief Book Lover (CBL?) Heather Reisman says the books will be four of her all-time favourites:
“For as long as I can remember, I have loved sharing book recommendations with friends and family. It is a passion that led to my decision, 27 years ago, to launch Heather’s Picks.
“Today, so many years later, sharing my excitement about a meaningful book still brings me joy.
“Recently, I have been thinking a lot about the power of sharing a favourite book with, or gifting it to, a friend. It is akin to magically relieving stress and adding hours of joyful escape.
“I have also been thinking that right now we are all in need of a little more of this very feeling.

“To launch a movement of sharing and to inspire reading, on Sept. 14, at Indigo, Chapters, and Coles stores across the country, we are giving away 10,000 copies of four of my favourite Heather’s Picks: Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass, Jeannette Walls’s The Glass Castle, and Sue Monk Kidd’s The Book of Longings.
“Happy sharing and happy reading, Canada!”
The books will be available in participating opens at the time of opening on Saturday, September 14th. They will be on a first come, first served basis, and held to one book per customer. Each store will have unique quantities dependent on their size.
Enjoy!
