A “Community Fridge” is opening to help those affected by food insecurity in New Tecumseth.
The Community Living Association for South Simcoe will operate the “First CLASS Community Fridge“.
Courtney Johnston is the Team Lead for the Community Fridge project.
She says the fridge will provide emergency assistance for those who find themselves in a difficult situation.

The Community Fridge will be available to anyone who needs it, 7 days a week, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. inside the CLASS building at 125 Dufferin St. in Alliston.

A Grand Opening will be held Saturday, April 27, (11 am) at the Community Fridge location.
A vendors market will also be taking place from 10-3 pm.
A $2.00 entrance fee will be donated to the Community Fridge.
Items can be donated to the Community Fridge by dropping items off at CLASS Tuesdays 4 pm – 7 pm and Liberty Tax in Alliston (4 Victoria St E) will also accept donations of non perishable foods.
Acceptable Items Include:
Produce
Dry goods
Hygiene items
Pet food
Canned goods
Fresh meats (not frozen or past best before date)
Store bought bread and pastries
Dairy products
Eggs
Prepared meals from a public health-certified kitchen (must be labelled with expiry date and possible allergens)
