The Town of Innisfil showed off some upgrades done to the recently re-named Morgan Russell Arena and Community Centre.
An Ontario Trillium Foundation grant worth $324,700 was awarded to the town in 2021.
Funds from the grant enabled the Town to replace the building’s cooling system and fire alarms.
The roof was repaired and the doors, flooring and ceiling tiles were all replaced.
Upgrades were also done in the washrooms, and banquet hall.
The facility was named after South Simcoe Police Officer Morgan Russell, who grew up in the area and played hockey there.
Constable Morgan Russell and Constable Devon Northrup died during a disturbance call in October of 2022.
