The Town of Milton says both Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College will open their campuses in 2024.
Both schools are combining for what will eventually be known as the Milton Education Village (MEV), located along Tremaine Road near the Milton Velodrome. While the MEV will not officially open in 2024, both schools will offer post-secondary learning within Milton this year.

Conestoga College is opening up multiple campuses around town, including one at Parkhill Drive. The Parkhill Drive campus is expected to officially open to students in January, with Milton Transit preparing for students with a new deal.
“This exciting partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College opens doors of opportunity for our local youth, providing them with the chance to pursue their higher education aspirations right here in Milton,” says Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “Beyond the educational benefits, the presence of these institutions realizes our Milton Education Village vision and promises to energize our local economy, creating new prospects for businesses and residents alike. This aligns seamlessly with our Milton 2051 vision to cultivate a thriving, vibrant community and positions Milton as a destination for academic excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.”
Both schools are looking to offer a diverse range of programs and courses. Students will be able to take part in on-campus post-secondary education without having to commute out-of-town or relocate. This accessibility not only eliminates barriers to education but also fosters a sense of community pride and ownership in nurturing the next generation of leaders and professionals right here in Milton.
Laurier says they won’t keep Milton students waiting any longer:
“We are excited to welcome our first Laurier Milton students in fall 2024,” says Deborah MacLatchy, President and Vice-Chancellor, Wilfrid Laurier University. “Local and commuter students will now have access to the exceptional Laurier learning experience, with research and co-op opportunities in computer science and psychology degree programs. We look forward to engaging with the Town of Milton, business, industry and other community partners to realize the vision for Milton 2051 as a place of possibility.”
The goal is to use this transitional phase to provide students with a local education as we await for the MEV.
