The illness of a doctor has been cited as the reason behind the recent overnight closure of the obstetrical unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.
The Labour and Delivery Unit was closed for 12 hours Sunday (dec3) night and women who could, were sent elsewhere.
A news release sent out by the hospital stated a “physician shortage” was the reason for the closure.
Regular obstetrical and midwifery services resumed Monday morning at the hospital.
