A Hamilton teenager has been arrested following a carjacking in Burlington.
On Sunday, October 29th, at roughly 3:10 p.m., an SUV was stolen at gunpoint from Appleby Arena in Burlington. The victim was parking the vehicle when a group of three males exited a pickup truck and pointed a firearm at the victim demanding the keys.

One of the suspects was arrested a short time later. As a result of this investigation a 15-year-old male was charged by the HRPS with the following charges:
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Fail to Comply – Youth Probation (three counts)
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (two counts)

As a result of the increase in car jacking incidents across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), local police services have combined resources and established a Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force (PCJTF) to further co-ordinate law enforcement efforts in combating these crimes.
Carjackings are often violent and affect the larger community, as well as the victims involved. This collaborative approach aims to disrupt the networks responsible for violent and high-risk auto thefts and maximize enforcement efforts against criminal organizations.
Co-led by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, the task force is a collaboration between police services from across the GTA, including York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, and other external agencies, including Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario.
