Nothing an overtime goal can’t focus!
The Milton Menace played in their second and final game of the 2023 OJHL Governors Showcase in Buffalo, New York. Wednesday’s game was against the Lindsay Muskies.
Like the last game, the scoring took a while to get there. The Muskies managed to score first deep into the first period (17:24). Milton then tied the game with less than a minute left in the frame. It was Owen Kindree scoring his second of the year, assisted by Ivan Fabjan and Graeme Macauley. 21 seconds later, the Muskies took the lead again. It was 2-1 after 20 minutes.
The second period was scoreless, meaning Lindsay took a one-goal lead into the final period. At the 9:53 mark in the third, captain Connor Driscoll scored his third of the seasons, assisted by Kindree and Graeme Macauley. This led the game to go to overtime, tied at 2-2.
Overtime went swiftly, especially considering last Friday’s game ended in a tie after double overtime was fruitless. Justin O’Donnell scored the game winner on a powerplay. Driscoll and Owen Kindree both got the assists. Milton beat Lindsay 3-2 in OT.
In net for the Menace was Ariel Zaslaver, who got the win with 21 saves on 23 shots. That gave him a .913% save percentage.
The Menace are back home for their next game. They take on the Burlington Cougars on Friday, September 29th. Game time at the Milton Memorial Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
