UPDATE: Zellers won’t be leaving Halton after all!
Just goes to show how quickly things can change.
Starting off 2023, Zellers making its return to Halton was one of the biggest stories in the community. Now, in July, it’s been reported by Retail Insider that the Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) will be closing their The Bay store at the Burlington Centre mall. Along with this closure will be the transfer of the Zellers shop-in-store location to Bramalea City Centre in Brampton.
The report cites that having two Hudson’s Bay store locations within Burlington was ultimately the deciding factor for this particular closure.
This won’t an immediate closure like we saw with Bed, Bath and Beyond locations across Canada. HBC says the closure will officially take place in June 2024. The Zellers in Bramalea will open this September.
