An Etobicoke man is facing a list of charges after being arrested for stealing a pickup truck from a Oakville residence.
On Tuesday, April 11th, at roughly 8:30 a.m., the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) received after a victim discovered their Ford F-150 pickup was missing from their driveway. Through the use of a GPS device in the vehicle, police were able to locate the vacant truck parked in a commercial lot in Etobicoke.
The suspect eventually returned to the vehicle and entered the driver’s seat. At that time HRPS officers attempted to arrest him; however, the suspect ignored commands made by officers. He then drove the truck into police vehicles and struck four officers. Police were able to stop the stolen truck through the use of tire deflation devices and take the suspect into custody. No injuries were sustained to any officers or the suspect. Two knifes were located on the suspect at the time of his arrest.
26-year-old Ryan Nesbitt of Etobicoke was arrested and has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime
- Assault with a Weapon (Four counts)
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon (Two Counts)
- Possession of Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order (Four counts)
- Escape Lawful Custody
- Flight from Police Officer
- Dangerous Operation
- Operation While Prohibited (Two Counts)
- Fail to Stop After Accident
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
