It wasn’t the greatest weekend for the Milton Menace.
The team went into Friday to take on the St. Michael’s Majors. It was the first meeting between the two teams this season, and also the first since a mid-season trade.
The game at the St. Michaels College School Arena starting off wrong for Milton. St, Michael’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. That carried into the second period, with the Majors being up 4-0 before Lucas Buzziol finally found the back of the net at the 16:41 mark. It was assisted by Aidan Hughes. It was 4-1 after 40-minutes of play.
The third period was mostly quiet until Aiden Puley could score for Milton. The Majors would nab an extra empty netter to make it a 5-2 win for St. Michael’s.
Forbes Anderson was the billed goaltender for the Menace. He stopped 27 of 31 shots, giving him a .870% save percentage on the night.
The second game of the weekend was on Sunday, February 5th.
The Menace drove to Markham to play the Royals. The last time these two teams played was on January 17th when the Royals won 3-1.
The game began immediately with the Royals scoring just 4:30 into the first period. The Menace would tie the game at the 9:33 mark. Tristan Tremble scored, with Nicholas Wereha getting the assist. It was 1-1 after 20-minutes of action.
Starting the second period, Wereha managed to show off his versatility, scoring shorthanded just 38 seconds into the frame. The Royals would then get the goal back before scoring two more in the period. It was 4-2 Markham heading into the third period.
Ivan Fabjan (assisted by Owen Kindree and Dylan McFadden) scored late in the third to make things close, but the Menace were unable to pull off the comeback. The Menace lost 4-3, their second loss of the weekend.
