It’s the first loss of 2023 for the Milton Menace.
The team were host to the Markham Royals on Tuesday, January 17th. The team had played just nine days before, with the Menace winning 8-3. Read that recap here.
Things started off poorly for the Menace at the Milton Memorial Arena on Tuesday night. The Royals scored first, carrying a 1-0 lead into the second period.
The second frame wasn’t much better, as the Menace found themselves down 2-0 after 40-minutes of action.
The Royals managed to make it a 3-0 game early in the third period before the Menace could find themselves on the board. Aidan Puley scored 15:29 into the third, with help from Owen Forester and Jared Coccimiglio. That’d be all though, as the Royals beat the Menace 3-1.
According the box score, Forbes Anderson was in net for the Menace. He faced just 21 shots, stopping 18 of them. That gave him an .857% save percentage.
The Milton Menace are now 23-11-1-2, remaining at 49 points on the season. They are in fourth place of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s North/West Conference, up two points over the Pickering Panthers with two games in hand.
Next up is the Oakville Blades on Friday, January 20th. The Menace will head south to play at the Sixteen Mile Sports Centre. Game-time is slated for 7:00 p.m. We’ll have a preview on Thursday afternoon.
