It was a winless weekend for the Milton Menace.
The Menace went into Aurora on Friday, December 16th to take on the Tigers at the Aurora Community Centre.
The first period was scoreless between the two teams.
In the second period, the Tigers jumped out to the lead, scoring back-to-back goals in the first eight minutes of the second frame. Milton’s Aidan Hughes then answered with a goal of his own, with an assist from Connor Driscoll. Aurora scored again, and then so did Hughes. His second goal of the game was assisted by Ivan Fabjan. It was 3-2 Aurora after two.
In the third period, Fabjan scored a goal of his own at 11:36. It was assisted by Owen Kindree and Hughes. Shortly after, the Tigers would take back the lead, and that would be the game. The Tigers beat the Menace 4-3.
Will Goumas was in net for Milton. He stopped 20 of 24 shots, giving him an .833% save percentage for Friday’s game.
Looking ahead to Sunday, December 18th, the Milton Menace came home to the Milton Memorial Arena to host the Brantford 99ers.
Before we dive into this game, it should be noted right off the bat: the Menace outshot the 99ers 50-17. It just wasn’t Milton’s game.
The first period nearly came to a close scoreless before Brantford potted one with 17 seconds left on the timeclock. It was 1-0 after one.
The second period was scoreless.
The third period saw two goals (including an empty netter) from Brantford, none from Milton, meaning the Milton Menace were shutout 3-0 by the Brantford 99ers.
Forbes Anderson was in net for Milton, stopping 14 of 16 shots, giving him a .875% save percentage.
The sour weekend put the Menace at 21-10-1-2 over 34 games, with 45 points on the season. They luckily remain in third place of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) North/West Conference.
Their next game is on Friday, December 23rd when the Menace head to North York to take on the Rangers at the Paramount Ice Rink. They will then have a few weeks off before they return home on Sunday, January 8th, 2023. That game will be against the Markham Royals.
