A close game ended late with the Georgetown Raiders taking down the Milton Menace.
The Menace went up the road to the Mold Masters Arena on Wednesday night to take on the Raiders. The last time these two teams faced off, the Menace beat the Raiders 4-1 on Wednesday, October 5th.
The first period was a scoreless affair.
The scoring was then kicked off 8:35 into the second period when the Raiders Nathan Naves was able to put one away past Menace goaltender Will Goumas. It was 1-0 Georgetown after two periods of play.
Just over a minute into the first period, Connor Driscoll scored for the Menace to tie the game. The goal was assisted by Tristan Tremble and Bradley Banach. When it seemed that this was going to be another overtime game for Milton, the Raiders decided otherwise. Andrew Whitton scored and gave Georgetown the 2-1 lead, which would prove to be the final score.
For the Menace, Goumas stopped 39 of 41 shots, giving him a .951% save percentage.
The Milton Menace are now 16-4-1-2 through 23 games, giving them 35 points on the season. They are third in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) North/West Conference.
The Menace will play next on Friday, November 18th. It’s a home game against the Collingwood Blues, who lead the North/West Conference with an 18-2-0-1 record in 21 games, good for 37 points.
