The Town of Milton has shared how it will honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, September 30th.
The Town will honour the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities with flags at Town facilities being lowered to half-mast. This will be in remembrance of the children who never returned home.

September 30th also marks Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led day raising awareness of the very tragic legacy of residential schools. It is a day of reflection, listening, learning and growing. The Town encourages all residents to wear orange to raise awareness and to honour the Survivors.
“[We encourage] everyone to do their part to commemorate truth and reconciliation, recognize Canada’s tragic and painful history towards our Indigenous Peoples, and honour the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities,” the Town of Milton says in a release. “Every Child Matters,” it adds.
