It took over a year, but two arrests have been made in a lengthy shooting investigation.
Back on March 21st, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) were called to a residence located on The Greenery in northeast Oakville at roughly 2:40 a.m.. There were reports of gun shots fired in the area of the home.
Once on scene, police located a female victim who was taken to hospital with serious injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The victim survived.
This shooting launched an extensive investigation by the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau that included numerous search warrants. During the investigation, police discovered a sophisticated, well-organized CERB/CEWS (Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy) fraud that spanned across the province.
On July 29th, 23-year-old Justis Verrall of Scarborough was arrested. She has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Counterfeit Mark
- Unauthorized Possession of Credit Card Data
- Utter Forged Documents (2 counts)
Verrall was released from custody on an Undertaking.
On August 22, 2022, 28-year-old Sean Thomas of Fenelon Falls was arrested. He has been charged with the following:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
- Careless Storage a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Firearm for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of Counterfeit Mark
- Unauthorized Possession of Credit Card Data
- Utter Forged Documents (2 counts)
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking
Thomas was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Investigators are still searching for additional suspects in connection with this shooting.

The investigation into an Oakville shooting on Saturday morning is ongoing.
The Halton Police has put out a call for anyone living in the area of Sixth Line between Upper Middle Road and Dundas Street to review any video surveillance footage between 1:00 am and 3:00 am on Saturday, March 27th. The HRPS says that the suspect vehicle in this shooting is a dark coloured SUV.
Anyone with footage of a dark coloured SUV between those hours is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905 825 4777 ext. 2216.

The Halton Regional Police Service is on the lookout for a suspect(s) responsible for a shooting in Oakville over the weekend.
At roughly 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 27th, officers responded to calls of gunfire at a residence on The Greenery in the Sixth Line and Munn’s Avenue area of Oakville. One female was transported to hospital with what have since been deemed non-life-threatening injuries. No other physical injuries were reported to police as a result of this incident.
The HRPS says all signs point to this being a targeted attack, and there is no evidence to suggest an ongoing related public safety threat.
