The Fundraiser Warriors are hosting a Kids Gala event in Milton this weekend.
The proceeds from the event will go towards getting a pool chairlift for Campfire Circle, which is a nonprofit oncology camp that supports kids and families affected by childhood cancer.
The Kids Gala is on Sunday, August 14th, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Granite Ridge Golf Club, and will feature dinner and a magic show, and many other activities including Puppeteers, an exotic animal exhibit, local children’s book authors, and a silent auction.
The fundraiser is being held by The Fundraiser Warriors, which is made up of two sets of brothers between the ages of 7-11, who are all best friends, Edward Bill, Ethan Bill, Nicholas De Groot, and Nathan De Groot.
The four of them have been leading local fundraising initiatives for the past four years and together have raised over $35,000.
Edward and Ethan’s mother, Stacey Bourbonnais, says all of the boys came up with the idea of raising money for a pool lift after they saw there needed to be more accessibility for children to access the pool.
Bourbonnais’s son Ethan was diagnosed with a brain tumour that could not be removed because of the location.
They have all attended the camp in the past.
Now, with the communities help, they hope to raise $15,000.
All 4 boys enthusiastically jumped at this idea and started planning a kid’s gala fundraiser. Nathan shares their slogan, that every kid deserves to go swimming on a hot summer day and we won’t let cancer stop them!
Tickets are $45 for kids, and $65 for adults.
