The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating a shooting in Oakville.
On Saturday, July 30th, at roughly 3:50 p.m., the HRPS responded to reports of gunshots being fired towards a residence on Hilda Drive in Oakville. A male and female reportedly approached the residence in a stolen Honda CRV with a Quebec licence plate. The male was seen firing several rounds towards the residence before fleeing in the vehicle with the female prior to police arrival. Investigators determined that roughly ten rounds struck the front of the residence, causing damage to the front door and windows. No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the shooting.
On Tuesday, August 2nd, the CRV that was utilized in the shooting was located by York Regional Police at a motel in Concord. HRPS officers attended the motel and arrested two parties as they entered the stolen vehicle. The two arrested parties have not been charged in relation to the shooting on July 30th.
20-year-old Abdinasir Aden (male) of North York has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
Aden was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
19-year-old Batoul Fathala (female) of London has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Fathala was released on an Undertaking.
Police are still actively investigating the shooting on July 30th on Hilda Drive and are asking anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the shooting to check for dash cam or CCTV footage.
