All adults in Halton can now receive a second booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Halton Region says starting Thursday, July 14, residents 18 years of age and older can book an appointment to receive a fourth dose/second booster of COVID-19 vaccine through Halton’s online booking system.
“Our incredible Halton team continues to respond to COVID-19 and provide access to every dose of COVID-19 vaccine,” says Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. “Our efficient clinics, easy to use online booking system and friendly clinic staff are ready to support those now eligible to receive a fourth dose. There are also other ways to get the vaccine in our community including many pharmacies and participating primary care providers.”
Residents 18 years of age and older may receive a second booster at 5 months (or 140 days) after their first booster. Individuals who are at higher risk of severe disease from COVID-19 infection, and many of whom are already eligible, are recommended to get their next dose as soon possible.
Residents can quickly determine when they are recommended to get their next dose using Halton’s online Dose Calculator. Residents should check their enhanced vaccine certificate to confirm when they received their previous dose.
All second boosters at Halton Region Community Clinics will be offered by appointment only. Appointments are available at Halton Region Community Clinics located in Burlington, Halton Hills, Oakville and Milton. All second booster appointments must be booked through Halton’s online booking system or by calling 311.
All Health Canada approved vaccines are safe and provide protection against COVID-19. Antibodies from vaccination or infection may decrease over time. Keeping up with the recommended doses, especially for those at higher risk of complication from the virus, remains critical for preventing severe illness and hospitalization. Every dose counts in our collective response to the COVID-19 virus.
