Tuesday, June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day!
This is a day for us all to recognize and celebrate the cultures, voices, experiences, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
Activities for National Indigenous Peoples Day are organized across Canada every year.
Here’s what’s happening around the area:
- June 21st: Indigenous Peoples Day at Mississauga Celebration Square located at 300 City Centre Dr.
6 p.m. – Pre-show featuring DeeJay Jams and host, Kim Wheatley
7 p.m. – Official ceremony featuring Manitou Mkwa Singers
7:30 p.m. – Performance by Juno-nominee Shawnee Kish
8:30 p.m. – Headlining performance by singer/songwriter Logan Staats
- June 21st: Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Indigenous Peoples Day celebration at the Social and Health Grounds (659 New Credit Rd)
12 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Drumming, crafts, cook-off, feast, giveaways, & more! *Registration is required for the cook-off.
- June 21st: Solidarity Day at the Six Nations Sports & Cultural Memorial Centre (1738 4th Line, Ohsweken, ON N0A 1M0)
1 p.m. – Rides, food, and Music
8:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. – Run Woman Run Movie Screening at The Gathering Place (2593 Chiefswood Rd, Ohsweken, ON N0A 1M0)

12 p.m.- 8 p.m. – Indigenous-Owned Vendor Market
7:35 p.m. – Big Drum Art Installation in partnership with ACCIDA
