On Wednesday, May 4th, the Halton Region sent a questionnaire to local provincial election candidates to learn more about their positions on priority issues for the community.
The questionnaire asked candidates for their positions on:

- Investments in affordable and assisted housing: Ensure residents have access to safe, affordable and assisted housing and deliver long-term sustainable, allocation-based funding to increase housing supply.
- Delivering growth-related infrastructure: Ensure there are Provincial infrastructure investments and a plan focused on growing communities, including the delivery of schools, hospitals and highways necessary to increase housing supply and economic growth.
- Adequate funding for Public Health: Provide adequate base funding along with a long-term stable funding plan for Public Health.
- Investments in Long-Term Care: Invest in Long-Term Care reform to provide long-term sustainable funding, increased beds and an immediate human resources strategy.
- Immediate access to reliable broadband internet: Deliver affordable access to broadband internet services for rural and urban homes and businesses in Halton.
- Supporting municipal climate change and adaptation: Provide long-term funding for municipal climate change mitigation and adaptation work.
“I would like to thank the candidates who responded to our questionnaire to share how they would address the priority issues for Halton. We look forward to working with locally elected MPPs to preserve a high quality of life in our community,” says Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. “I also want to encourage residents to learn more about their local Provincial election candidates, read their responses and take the time to vote on or before June 2—your vote counts!”
