Our Pet of the Week is a success story!
Fur-Ever Able Dog Rescue founder Ashley Andrews says Harlow was located on a Manitoba reserve with what was believed to be just days to live. Now, she’s getting adopted with a clean bill of health.

When looking over the two-year-old Shar-Pei/Lab mix’s bio on the Fur-Ever Able website, you can see how they describe her temperament:
- LOVES people and dogs
- super smart and knows many commands
- wants nothing but to cuddle and to please
- perfect day is to get belly rubs, play, get more belly rubs and cuddle
- so loveable
- crate trained and house broken
Keep in mind, Fur Ever Able has shown in the past that they will not lie about their dogs’ temperaments. If a dog isn’t a good fit for everyone, they will stress why. That adds a level of credibility when describing how a once feral, mange riddled (see the bottom of the article for a look at Harlow’s mange), young mother was taken in and trained to be a domestic family dog. Andrews agrees that this underdog is getting over.

If you’d to get involved with what Fur-Ever Able is doing, Andrews says you can donate in many ways. Click here to find out how to help. The organization focuses on dogs in tough situations and more specifically, dogs dealing with disabilities. They mostly take on dogs and puppies with cleft palate issues. Andrews will raise them and look after their surgeries. When they’re ready, the dogs will then be put up for adoption. She describes the dogs they take in as ones that are likely up for euthanasia otherwise.
If you’re interested in adopting, you can check the Fur-Ever Able adoption page, which, at the time of writing, only includes the adorable 3.5lbs Chip. They have many other dogs currently in care, and you can read about them all here.
