We are a few months away from another provincial election.
Speaking with Ontario’s Chief Electoral Officer Greg Essensa, he says residents can expect a safe voting process.

He adds that there will be a number of new things to look forward to when it comes to voting. Those include advanced voting being bumped to ten days compared to the previous five days. That will allow for returning electoral officers to be able to rotate where advanced polls will be located. Essensa says that comes in handy in large, rapidly growing communities like Milton as different neighbourhoods can get a chance to attend an advanced polling station near them.
This won’t be the first major election during the COVID-19 pandemic. The federal election was called early, as it was held in September 2021. Essensa says being able to see what worked and didn’t work with the 2021 federal election has given them ideas on what to expect this June. He talks about some changes that have been made because of this.

Elections Ontario is hiring. Essensa says they bring in over 55,000 paid positions for each election held.
The Ontario election will be held on Thursday, June 2nd. Milton currently has five candidates: incumbent MPP Parm Gill for the Conservatives; Town Councillor for Milton’s Ward 4 Sameera Ali for the Liberals; Katherine Cirlincione for the New Democratic Party; John Spina for the New Blue party; and, Oriana Knox for the Green Party.
