The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested three 19-year-old males in relation to an attempted robbery in Milton.
Yesterday, at approximately 10:55 am, one of the male suspects attempted to gain entry to the All Eyes Optical store located at 6911 Derry Road in Milton wearing a mask and gloves but, the store was locked. He then left in a vehicle with two other male suspects waiting inside.
Employees contacted the police, however, the suspects were gone at the time of police arrival.
At approximately 11:40 am, the same vehicle returned to the store and one of the male passengers attempted to enter for a second time however it remained locked and the suspects did not enter.
Police quickly re-attended the parking lot and found the suspects parked in a silver Acura (the same vehicle reported earlier to police). Officers blocked in the Acura with their cruiser and an officer attempted to exit the police vehicle. The driver of the Acura accelerated and drove into the police vehicle, pinning the officer between the cruiser and its open door. The vehicle then fled at a high rate of speed.
The officer suffered minor physical injuries to their leg from the collision.
In an attempt to stop the suspect vehicle, other officers in the area deployed a tire deflation device on the Acura. The device caused damage to the tires, however, the suspects continued to flee police.
The suspect vehicle eventually lost control of the vehicle on James Snow Parkway in Milton and the suspects fled on foot into a residential neighbourhood.
Video of the vehicle driving on James Snow Parkway and the suspects fleeing was provided to police by a witness and is included in this media release.
Police contained the area and began a search for the suspects.
All three suspects were located hiding in a residential backyard and placed under arrest.
A K9 search of the area resulted in the recovery of a loaded Glock handgun and a Glock air pistol in a residential backyard.
