We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were seven cases across Halton last week. Two of the cases involved Milton:
On Monday, February 28th after 7:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wakefield Road and Ontario Street South in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 42-year-old Mississauga man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, March 1st, just before 7:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Longfield Road and Meadvale Road in Acton. As a result of an investigation, a 46-year-old Acton man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Tuesday, March 1st, just before 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Trafalgar Road and Highway 7 in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 19-year-old Halton Hills man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Wednesday, March 2nd, just after 6:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Reid Sideroad and Guelph Line in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 71-year-old Millgrove man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, March 2nd, just after 9:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Upper Middle Road and Third Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 34-year-old Oakville woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, March 3rd, just before 10:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Fairview Street and Maple Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 50-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, March 4th, just after 12:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Waterdown Road and Plains Road East in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 21-year-old Ancaster man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
