The Milton Menace picked up a big win on Sunday, January 2nd ahead of what will be an uncertain future.
The game against the Burlington Cougars started off with a Burlington goal. Holden Rogers then scored back-to-back goals to close out the first period 2-1 for Milton.
The Cougars tied the game in the second period to make it 2-2 after two.
Rogers then scored his third of the game to make 3-2 two minutes into the third. Burlington tied the game a minute later. Ethan Sims then scored the eventual game winner with eight minutes to go in the game. Milton would win 4-3.
The rest of the OJHL season is on hold as the Ontario Government has announced restrictions to local amaetur sports amidst rising COVID-19 numbers.
In an act of protest, Milton Menace President Jason Tryfon says he will be standing outside of Milton Memorial Arena to pay tribute to the kids around the league that “just got shut down AGAIN.” In a follow-up tweet to this statement, Tryfon adds that “It’s my own silent tribute to all kids who have taken the brunt during this pandemic. It’s the least I can do. To stand in the cold for 3 hours on every scheduled game night for these players.”
The Menace were expected to play again on Thursday, January 6th against the Brantford 99ers at the Gretzky Main Arena.
