COVID-19: 50 cases across Halton over the weekend

Coming out of the weekend, there are quite a few COVID-19 cases in Milton and across Halton.

Across Halton, there are 50 new cases since Friday. The total number of cases is up to 20,130. With 19,799 resolved cases and 243 deaths, Halton is at 88 active cases, two less than Friday. The Region says that of the 20,130 total cases, 19,414 were confirmed positive while 716 were considered probable cases.

In Milton, we have 17 new cases. That brings us to 6423 total cases. With 6348 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 29 active cases, nine cases less than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 6423 total cases, 6172 were confirmed positive while 251 were considered probable cases.

The Halton Region is reporting variant case totals. It says that 7678 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2512 total variant cases.

An outbreak has been reported at a Milton school. It’s at Holy Rosary (Milton) Catholic Elementary School. It was first reported by the Halton Region on Wednesday, October 27th. There are two cases being reported (the minimum for an outbreak). Both are considered Halton cases, meaning they are Halton residents.

An outbreak has been declared at a Milton school. It’s at Tiger Jeet Singh Public School. It was first declared on Thursday, November 4th. There are three reported cases. All are considered Halton cases.

An outbreak has been declared at a congregate living facility. It is labelled only as ‘Congregate Living – 80’ on the Halton Region outbreak webpage. There are 17 cases being reported – six are non-Halton cases and 11 are residents.

A new outbreak has been declared at a workplace in Milton. It’s listed only as ‘workplace – 164’. There are three reported cases. All three are considered Halton cases. It was first declared on Wednesday, November 10th.

Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 897,714 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 803,860 of the doses were to Halton residents.

457,507 second doses have been administered in Halton. 408,015 of those have been Halton residents.

• 29,106 first doses and 28,879 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
• 25,494 first doses and 24,567 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
• 23,001 first doses and 22,414 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
• 17,349 first doses and 17,147 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
• 24,776 first doses and 24,486 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
• 2019 first doses and 1359 second doses are pending.

The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:

• 80,708 first doses and 107,929 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
• 13,929 first doses and 10,133 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
• 345,570 first doses and 339,445 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
