A death from COVID-19 has been reported by the Halton Region.
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show an additional death in the totals. The death appears to have been an Oakville resident, giving the town 69 deaths from the virus. Burlington remains at 70, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 243 deaths total from COVID-19. This is the first death from the virus in Halton in almost a month.
Across Halton, there are 31 new cases since Friday. The total number of cases is up to 19,837. With 19,524 resolved cases and 243 deaths, Halton is at 70 active cases, 13 less than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,837 total cases, 19,142 were confirmed positive while 695 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have three new cases. That keeps us at 6332 total cases. With 6276 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 10 active cases, eight cases less than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 6332 total cases, 6090 were confirmed positive while 242 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6626 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2250 total variant cases.
There’s an outbreak being reported at a Milton workplace. It’s listed on the Halton Region webpage as ‘Workplace – 162’. There are eight total cases being reported – one is a Halton case, seven are considered non-Halton cases. It was first declared on Thursday, October 14th.
Two outbreaks in Milton have been declared closed:
The Halton Region has closed the reported outbreak at Anne J. Macarthur Public School. The outbreak was first declared on Tuesday, October 12th. There were two cases being reported, both being considered ‘Halton’ cases, meaning the residents were from Halton. It officially closed on Friday, October 22nd.
The outbreak at St. Benedict Catholic Elementary School has also been closed. There were two cases being reported, the minimum for what is considered an outbreak. The outbreak was first declared on Wednesday, October 13th. It was officially closed on Friday, October 22nd.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 888,410 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 796,742 of the doses were to Halton residents.
451,512 second doses have been administered in Halton. 403,294 of those have been Halton residents.

The Halton Region says that out of the 463,458 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.13% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 96,857 fully immunized residents – 0.13% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
