The Milton Rotary Club is doing its job of giving back to the community.
Recently, Rotarians delivered 200 care packages to Allendale Long-Term Care Facility, one for each senior living in the facility. The project was conceived by member and registered nurse, Abiola Akinremi, as well as Milton Rotary Club President Wale Osamiluyi. Akinremi says it’s about lifting spirits.
Pictures were provided by Director of Community Services for the Milton Rotary Club, Rod McLachlan.
The packages had a bunch of personal care products like kleenex, shampoo, body wash, hand sanitizer or soap, toothpaste, a toothbrush and disinfecting wipes.
The project, called ‘Smiles For Seniors‘, had help from the community, as well as the Shoppers Drug Mart on Nipissing Road.
Smiles For Seniors is one of a series of COVID-19 outreach and community support initiatives that have already been undertaken by Milton Rotary including support for MCRC Infant Food Bank, a Youth Summit focused on mental health and careers, financial support for the Salvation Army Food Bank, PPE for local front-line workers, financial support for Milton District Hospital Foundation, and financial backing and volunteers for Game On Ball Hockey in support of kids’ mental health at Reach Out Centre for Kids.
