Adam van Koeverden is now a two-term MP for Milton.
After winning in the federal election on Monday, MP van Koeverden spoke with FM 101 Milton to share what’s next for himself, as well as our community.

He says it felt good to win on Monday. He touts teamwork, saying without his campaign team by his side, he’s not sure how well this speedy campaign season would have gone. The pandemic brought its own issues when comparing 2021 to 2019’s campaign, but he’s happy to see 220 unique volunteers show up and show out for him this time around.
2021 was also different from the 2019 election in that Adam van Koeverden wasn’t the incumbent MP. Back then, he was the up-and-coming challenger to Lisa Raitt’s figurative championship run. People voted for change then, but this time, he was the MP. van Koeverden answers why he believes Milton voted for him a second time.

At the time of writing, he has officially received 27,736 votes, good for 51.6% of the vote. The next closest Milton candidate was the Conservative’s Nadeem Akbar with 33% of the vote. When speaking with several residents, and even the candidates for the Milton riding, there wasn’t much that was negatively said with van Koeverden’s early performance as Milton’s MP. But he isn’t going to rest on his laurels.

Looking to the future, van Koeverden hopes that another election isn’t any time soon. He’d like to be able to focus on his job as the MP for Milton, and adds that he plans on being Milton’s federal representative for a lot longer than just a four-year term.
If there were an election in the near future, he hopes road signs aren’t a part of it. Milton’s Town Council will be deciding whether or not to ban political road signs for elections moving forward. That will be on October 4th. He says good riddance, as they’re not great for the environment.
van Koeverden’s office will remain at 16 Hugh Lane, at the northwest corner of Hugh Street and Mary Street (in the parking lot). You can always reach him by email at adam.vankoeverden@parl.gc.ca.
