The federal election is not quite yet over, but it appears we have some answers already.
Milton incumbent MP Adam van Koeverden has won the Milton riding, according to CP24. This is van Koeverden’s second federal election win and he will serve his second term as Milton’s MP. We spoke with van Koeverden last month when he opened up his campaign office. Hear what he hopes to bring to Milton in his second term.
van Koeverden beat out all new candidates, including Nadeem Akbar (Conservative), Muhammad Riaz Sahi (NDP), Chris Kowalchuk (Green), and Shibli Haddad (PPC).
Both CTV and Global have projected a minority government for Liberal leader Justin Trudeau. This is Trudeau’s third election win six years. Conservative leader Erin O’Toole has conceded defeat to Trudeau.
At the time of writing, van Koeverden had 51.6% of the vote (27,730), Akbar had 33% of the vote (17,736), Riaz Sahi had 8.8% of the vote (4752), Haddad had 4.3% of the vote (2312), and Kowalchuk had 2.3% of the vote (1251). Final numbers will reportedly take a day or two as more than a million mail-in votes need to be counted nationally.
