(A local Terry Fox Run sign from a previous year)
Here’s your reminder that registration is open for 2021 Terry Fox events.
That includes the annual fundraiser marathon, among others.
Terry’s brother Fred Fox works as Manager of Supporter Relations with the Terry Fox Foundation. He says the pandemic might have thrown them a curve but they took Terry’s advice and decided to not let obstacles get in their way.
Last year was the first Terry Fox Run to be held virtual. Fred says it went well considering the challenges. Canadians managed to (virtually) come together and give it their all, just like Terry, in hopes of raising funds and awareness against cancer.
This June marked 40-years since we lost Terry. Fred says his brother would be proud to see how far we’ve come.
You can register for a number of events that will take place this year. Whether it’s the Run itself, the Terry Fox Ride of Hope or the Terry Fox Trek, there are many ways to get involved. You can raise funds alone, as part of a team, or with your school. The Foundation even offers merchandise, with proceeds going towards finding a cure for cancer.
