For the second time in September, a death from COVID-19 has been reported across Halton.
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show an additional death in the totals. The death appears to have been a Burlington resident, giving the city 69 deaths from the virus. Oakville remains at 67, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 240 deaths total from COVID-19.
Across Halton, there 85 new cases coming out of the weekend. The total number of cases is up to 19,077. With 18,665 resolved cases and 240 deaths, Halton is now at 172 active cases, six more cases than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,077 total cases, 18,435 were confirmed positive while 642 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 26 new cases. That brings us to 6136 total cases. With 6049 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 41 active cases, seven more than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 6136 total cases, 5911 were confirmed positive while 225 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6430 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2196 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared in Milton. It was first declared on Wednesday, September 8th. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are five reported cases. One is considered a Halton case. Four are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 853,623 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 768,789 of the doses were to Halton residents.
428,983 second doses have been administered in Halton. 384,948 of those have been Halton residents.

- 22,769 first doses and 22,120 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,186 first doses and 16,951 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,620 first doses and 24,286 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,731 first doses and 276 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 70,580 first doses and 89,602 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,724 first doses and 9857 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 340,336 first doses and 329,524 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 440,960 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.08% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 91,242 fully immunized residents – 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
