A Halton resident has reportedly died from COVID-19.
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show an additional death in the totals. The death appears to have been a Burlington resident, giving the city 68 deaths from the virus. Oakville remains at 67, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 239 deaths total from COVID-19. It’s the first death from COVID-19 in Halton in over a month.
Across Halton, there 35 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 18,965. With 18,563 resolved cases and 239 deaths, Halton is now at 163 active cases, eight more cases than Wednesday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,965 total cases, 18,332 were confirmed positive while 633 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have three new cases. That brings us to 6102 total cases. With 6026 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 30 active cases, one more than Wednesday’s update. The Region says that of the 6102 total cases, 5879 were confirmed positive while 223 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6394 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2189 total variant cases.
An outbreak in Milton was declared on Monday, August 23rd. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 154’. There are two reported cases. Both are considered ‘non-Halton’ cases, meaning they are not Halton residents. It’s likely that this outbreak closes in the coming days, pending any new reported cases – or that it already has closed and the webpage has not yet updated the status.
A second outbreak has been declared in Milton. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 158’. There are five reported cases. One is considered a Halton case. Four are ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 849,979 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 765,818 of the doses were to Halton residents.
426,979 second doses have been administered in Halton. 383,153 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 36,662 first doses and 42,015 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 37,278 first doses and 39,169 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;

- 37,038 first doses and 37,852 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 36,135 first doses and 36,531 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 34,824 first doses and 34,282 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 28,496 first doses and 28,015 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 25,129 first doses and 24,080 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,754 first doses and 22,097 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,175 first doses and 16,938 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,606 first doses and 24,268 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,679 first doses and 51 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 69,651 first doses and 88,225 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,970 first doses and 10,157 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 28 first doses and 275 second doses have been independently administered through long-term care/retirement homes;
- 339,497 first doses and 328,176 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 439,061 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 90,792 fully immunized residents – 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
Below are the numbers for Ontario, including roughly 798 new cases province-wide. There have been 572,130 total cases in Ontario.
