A death from COVID-19 has been reported by the Halton Region.
The death appears to have been a Burlington resident, giving the city 67 deaths from the virus. Oakville remains at 67, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 237 deaths total from COVID-19. It’s the first death from COVID-19 in Halton in over a month.
Around the region, there are 22 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 18,737. With 18,380 resolved cases and 238 deaths, Halton is now at 119 active cases, 12 less than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,737 total cases, 18,109 were confirmed positive while 628 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have seven new cases. That brings us to 6059 total cases. With 5987 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 26 active cases, 14 less than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 6059 total cases, 5837 were confirmed positive while 222 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6294 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2166 total variant cases.
An outbreak in Milton has officially been closed. This one was labelled as ‘Health & Wellness – 2’. It was first declared on August 10th. There were two reported cases. Both were considered Halton cases. It officially closed on August 23rd.
A second outbreak in Milton was declared on Monday, August 23rd. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 154’. There are two reported cases. Both are considered ‘non-Halton’ cases, meaning they are not Halton residents.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 841,299 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 758,635 of the doses were to Halton residents.
422,366 second doses have been administered in Halton. 379,406 of those have been Halton residents.

- 22,716 first doses and 22,038 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,156 first doses and 16,898 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,576 first doses and 24,218 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,447 first doses and 13 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 66,927 first doses and 85,659 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,996 first doses and 10,336 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 338,010 first doses and 326,371 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 434,127 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.06% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 89,519 fully immunized residents. 0.06% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
