While today’s number is high, it’s not AS bad as it looks.
Across Halton, there are 66 new cases coming out of the weekend. That’s a 22 case per day average, about what we saw all last week. The total number of cases is up to 18,581. With 18,209 resolved cases and 237 deaths, Halton is now at 135 active cases, 14 more than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,581 total cases, 17,961 were confirmed positive while 620 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 20 new cases. That brings us to 6022 total cases. That’s just under seven cases per day, slightly more than what we saw last week. With 5939 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 37 active cases, ten more than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 6022 total cases, 5801 were confirmed positive while 221 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. However, the variant numbers on the Halton Region COVID-19 dashboard have been suspended due to an ongoing update of the provincial CCM system.
An outbreak at a day camp in Milton has officially been closed. It was originally labelled as ‘Day Camp – 1’. It was first declared on Monday, August 9th. There were 12 reported cases. All 12 were considered Halton cases, which means the residents are from Halton. The outbreak was officially closed on Friday, August 20th.
That leaves us with currently just one outbreak in Milton. It was first declared on August 10th. This one is labelled as ‘Health & Wellness – 2’. There are two reported cases. Both are considered Halton cases. It could close by tomorrow pending any new cases.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 828,487 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 747,265 of the doses were to Halton residents.
413,222 second doses have been administered in Halton. 371,176 of those have been Halton residents.

- 17,131 first doses and 16,824 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,558 first doses and 24,133 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 854 first doses and 11 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 65,100 first doses and 83,634 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,888 first doses and 10,257 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 336,277 first doses and 319,331 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
