We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last week. Fortunately, none of the cases involved Milton:
On Saturday, August 14th, just after 10:00 a.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of New Street and Appleby Line in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 50-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, August 15th, just before 4:30 p.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Dundas Street and Appleby Line in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 61-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, August 16th, just before 11:00 p.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Speers Road and Dorval Drive in Oakville. As a result of this initiative, a 20-year-old Mississauga man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, August 18th, just before 2:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Gibson Drive and Sherwood Heights Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 52-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, August 18th, just before 10:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Upper Middle Road and Golden Meadow Trail in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Mississauga man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, August 19th, just before 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Trafalgar Road and Cornwall Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 27-year-old Ridgeway man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
A 60-year-old Burlington woman was also charged this past week for failing to remain at the scene of a collision. She was impaired when officers eventually caught up with her.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
