A 60-year-old Burlington woman has been charged after failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says the collision at roughly 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 19th. Officers were notified of a serious motor vehicle collision on Lakeshore Road West in the area of Strathcona Avenue in Oakville. A Jeep sport utility vehicle had struck a 42-year-old male cyclist and failed to remain at the scene. The cyclist was taken to Hamilton General Hospital for head trauma.
A subsequent investigation involving information provided by a witness resulted in the arrest of the 60-year-old who was identified as the driver of Jeep. The injuries to the cyclist are considered serious but non-life threatening.
Mary Stefanac of Burlington is charged with:
- Failure to stop after an accident causing bodily harm;
- Operation of a Conveyance while impaired by alcohol; and,
- Operation of a Conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 mg/100 ml and above.
