The elusive ace of spades in the Townsend Smith Hospice Foundation (TSHF) Catch the Ace raffle is STILL up for grabs.
Each week, a winner is given a card from a deck. They automatically win the weekly pot, but could win the jackpot if they pull the ace of spades. With 52 cards in a deck, there are now 21 cards still left to be picked.
William Russell pulled the four of diamonds on Friday to win $430. Events Coordinator for TSHF Mallory Crippen says Russell had his weekend already planned.
Russell’s mother is actually a volunteer for the Townsend Smith Foundation, which is how he found out about the raffle.
Crippen says that she’s always amazed at the weekly interest in the event as it just shows how far the Foundation has come within the community. She calls the TSHF a grassroots organizations, and she’s happy to see people vying for that jackpot each week.
The Foundation feels the community would be better served by having palliative and respite care available in either Milton or Halton Hills.
The hospice might end up going in the recently announced Wilfrid Laurier University-Conestoga College joint campus, to be located off Tremaine Road by the Milton Velodrome. Learn all about that here.
