The Townsend Smith Hospice Foundation (TSHF) had its biggest weekly jackpot in more than a month on Friday.
It was won by Ellen Luccock, who netted herself $648. The Events Coordinator for the TSHF, Mallory Crippen, says the $25,000 jackpot was a big selling point.
It’s now Week 31 for the Catch the Ace weekly raffle. How it works is: each week, a winner is given a card from a deck. They automatically win the weekly pot, but could win the jackpot if they pull the elusive ace of spades. With 52 cards in a deck, there are now 22 cards still left to be picked.
Crippens adds that Luccock didn’t specify where she’d like to put her new earned winnings, but was happy to just support the cause of bringing a hospice to North Halton.
The Foundation feels the community would be better served by having palliative and respite care available in either Milton or Halton Hills.
The hospice might end up going in the recently announced Wilfrid Laurier University-Conestoga College joint campus, to be located off Tremaine Road by the Milton Velodrome. Learn all about that here.
