The Halton Region is reporting another death from COVID-19.
There is one death being reported in the region. It appears to have been a Burlington resident, giving the city 65 deaths from the virus. Oakville remains at 67, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 236 deaths total from COVID-19.
There is some good news. After back-to-back double digit new case days, there was just one new case reported across Halton. The total number of cases is up to 18,136. With 17,850 resolved cases and 236 deaths, Halton is now at 50 active cases, eight less than Wednesday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,136 total cases, 17,534 were confirmed positive while 602 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have one new case. That brings us to 5877 total cases. With 5819 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 12 active cases, the same as Wednesday’s update. The Region says that of the 5877 total cases, 5663 were confirmed positive while 214 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6028 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2074 total variant cases.
One outbreak is being reported in Milton:
- The Halton Region says an outbreak was reported at a workplace (classified as ‘Workplace – 151’). It was first declared on Saturday, July 10th. There are four cases being reported. All four are considered ‘Halton’ cases.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 720,081 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 647,814 of the doses were to Halton residents.
319,860 second doses have been administered in Halton. 284,440 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 31,043 first doses and 27,398 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 34,477 first doses and 25,540 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;

- 33,849 first doses and 26,579 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 27,850 first doses and 23,049 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 24,744 first doses and 20,658 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,496 first doses and 19,922 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,020 first doses and 15,427 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,423 first doses and 23,150 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 27 first doses and nine second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 59,287 first doses and 71,545 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,503 first doses and 9217 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 327,431 first doses and 239,098 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
