Coming out of the weekend, we have some good news when looking at the Halton Region’s COVID-19 update, as well as some bad news.
There is one death being reported in the region. It appears to have been a Burlington resident, giving the city 64 deaths from the virus. Oakville remains at 67, Halton Hills at 58, and Milton at 46. Halton is now at 235 deaths total from COVID-19.
Across Halton, there are eight new cases. The total number of cases is up to 18,105. With 17,826 resolved cases and 235 deaths, Halton is now at 44 active cases, two less than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,105 total cases, 17,506 were confirmed positive while 599 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have three new cases. That brings us to 5873 total cases. With 5815 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 12 active cases, the same number as Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 5873 total cases, 5659 were confirmed positive while 214 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 5992 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2062 total variant cases.
One outbreak is being reported in Milton:
- The Halton Region says an outbreak was reported at a workplace (classified as ‘Workplace – 151’). It was first declared on Saturday, July 10th. There are four cases being reported. All four are considered ‘Halton’ cases.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 700,898 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 630,388 of the doses were to Halton residents.
302,274 second doses have been administered in Halton. 268,300 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 30,594 first doses and 25,282 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 34,291 first doses and 23,689 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
- 22,208 first doses and 14,705 second doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 26,424 first doses and 17,477 second doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 31,057 first doses and 21,322 second doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 33,784 first doses and 24,115 second doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 35,307 first doses and 25,606 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 34,721 first doses and 25,356 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 33,785 first doses and 25,286 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 27,814 first doses and 22,068 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 24,715 first doses and 19,928 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,480 first doses and 19,536 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,004 first doses and 15,103 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,412 first doses and 22,793 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 28 first doses and eight second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 58,736 first doses and 68,410 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,461 first doses and 9042 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 326,427 first doses and 224,822 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
Below are the numbers for Ontario, including roughly 130 new cases province-wide. There have been 548,347 total cases in Ontario.
