The Halton COVID-19 numbers for Wednesday might be the best we’ve seen in a long while.
Across Halton, there are three new cases. The total number of cases is up to 17,937. With 17,651 resolved cases and 229 deaths, Halton is now at 57 active cases, 12 less than Tuesday’s update. The Region says that of the 17,937 total cases, 17,323 were confirmed positive while 614 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have zero new cases. That keeps us at 5831 total cases. With 5764 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 21 active cases, five less than Monday. The Region says that of the 5831 total cases, 5611 were confirmed positive while 220 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 5903 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2050 total variant cases.
The Halton Region is also noting vaccination numbers. A total of 499,865 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 448,316 of the doses were to Halton residents.
115,869 second doses have been administered in Halton. 99,008 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 26,587 first doses and 3213 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 32,347 first doses and 6180 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
- 20,817 first doses and 4668 second doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 25,187 first doses and 5298 second doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 29,796 first doses and 6276 second doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 32,738 first doses and 7465 second doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 34,233 first doses and 7905 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 33,835 first doses and 8203 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 33,019 first doses and 9828 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 27,429 first doses and 9910 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 24,466 first doses and 9957 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,316 first doses and 11,354 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 16,907 first doses and 9061 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,297 first doses and 16,548 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 22 first doses and three second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 53,981 first doses and 29,403 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,222 first doses and 7502 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 316,793 first doses and 78,964 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
