Halton Healthcare has sent out a message following record-setting new COVID-19 case numbers in Ontario.
The letter follows as such:
“A Message from Our Hospitals
“The Third Wave of the Pandemic is here and it’s more serious than ever. Case numbers are rising quickly and it’s not just our seniors that are at most risk. COVID-19 patients in our hospitals today are younger, very sick and many need intensive care. Our hospitals are busy caring for your friends, family and neighbours.
“We are doing everything we can at the hospital to treat people and save lives but prevention is key. The power to slow the spread of COVID-19 is in the hands of our community.
“Preventing the spread means fewer people will get sick and fewer people will need hospital care.
“We need your help.
“Please do your part:
- Stay home as much as possible;
- Don’t socialize with people outside of your household;
- Wear your masks;
- Practice good hand hygiene; and,
- Get vaccinated when it’s your turn.
“We know this past year has been very difficult and many sacrifices have already been made, but we can’t let our guards down just yet. By continuing to follow public health rules and as more people are vaccinated we are hopeful that Wave 3 will soon pass and we can enjoy a summer with friends and family.”
Today in Halton, there are 183 new cases. Milton made up for 41 of those cases. Sadly, there were also three new deaths reported across the region, with two of them being Milton residents. You can an in-depth breakdown of the stats here.
The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, also announced additional measures for the Stay-at-Home order, while also extending it by two more weeks. Here’s what we know so far.
