There are three deaths from COVID-19 being reported across Halton.
Two of the deaths are here in Milton, giving our town 39 deaths total. The third death is out of Oakville, giving the town 60 deaths total. Halton Hill remains at 56 deaths and Burlington is at 51. Halton has 206 total deaths from the virus.
There are 183 new cases across Halton. The total number of cases is up to 13,089. With 11,838 resolved cases and 206 deaths, Halton is now at 1045 active cases – 7 more than Thursday’s count. The Region says that of the 13,089 total cases, 12,668 were confirmed positive while 421 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 47 new cases. That brings us to 4273 total cases. With 3861 resolved cases and 39 deaths, Milton is now at 373 active cases – 20 less than Thursday’s number. The Region says that of the 4273 total cases, 4116 were confirmed positive while 157 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 1965 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 757 total variant cases.
The Premier of Ontario also announced a stay-at-home order that went into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, April 8th. You can read more about the measures here.
The Halton Region is also noting vaccination numbers. A total of 133,423 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 116,184 of the doses were to Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 3195 doses have been administered to people aged 16-24;
- 3571 doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 3582 doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 3877 doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 4489 doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 5128 doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 5998 doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 11,905 doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 11,426 doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 16,449 doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 19,396 doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 16,283 doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 28,114 doses have been administered to people aged 80+;
- 10 doses have been administered to people that are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 8133 doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 16,561 doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 108,729 doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
