The Milton Rotary Club is feeling great about its Youth Summit event.
The theme for the event was ‘Be Tomorrow’s Leaders Today’. The goal was to help youth deal with issues they are currently facing.
Director of Community Services for the Milton Rotary Club, Rod McLachlan, says they even managed to attract an international crowd.
He adds that the African connection was thanks to other members of the Club working and connecting with people around the world.
McLachlan says it was an extremely positive event that provided some great lessons for participants. He talks about what he hopes the groups took away from the Summit.
The Milton Rotary Club is teaming up with Italian Cultural Centre of Milton to hold a fundraiser for the Milton Community Resource Centre Infant Food Bank. We’ll have more on that in the coming days, but in the meantime, click here for information.
Also, time is running out on the Rotary Scholarship. There are three $1500 scholarships available for high school students of any age. It’s for students who live in Milton, but they don’t need to attend school in our town.
The deadline to apply is Saturday, May 1st. Applicants are asked to write an essay on their work of volunteering within the community, as well as a summary of their educational goals as they move on to post-secondary.
