The Region of Halton has provided an update on its COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
On Wednesday, March 3rd, the Region launched its website where residents 80-years and older could book their appointments to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani answered some frequently asked questions in a recent video. She says that residents will have access to free transit to get to their vaccination appointments.
Audio PlayerWhile the clinics are not yet open to the general public, Dr. Meghani stresses that once they do open they will only be accessible through appointments. The Region will continue to expand the vaccination program as more vaccines become available.
As the residents first receiving the vaccine at the clinics are the most vulnerable in our community, Dr. Meghani says they understand that not everyone can get around without help. That means that each person receiving the vaccine will be allowed to bring one person with them to make the process easier.

Signage will direct you where to park and where to enter the facility. Attendees are asked to follow the safety protocols in-place, and to wear a mask upon arrival.
Dr. Meghani says the entire process should take less than an hour.
Some additional measures that residents can take ahead of the appointment include:
- Take medication as per usual;
- Wear comfortable shoes for appointment;
- Wear loose fitting top or t-shirt to allow for easy access to arm;
- Avoid scented products;
- Arrive on time, but not too early (no more than 10 minutes before appointment);
- Do not attend if you have COVID-19 symptoms. Contact the Region to rebook your appointment for when you are well.
The Milton clinic is being set-up at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton on Main Street.
