Halton’s Regional Council is meeting today (Wednesday, February 17th).
One thing that Milton residents should follow is a discussion regarding the house in Milton using a well water system.
The Regional Councillor for Milton’s Ward 1, Colin Best, was on the latest episode of ‘This Week in Milton‘ on Friday. During the interview, he spoke on how the Region will be deciding the future of those wells.
In the report for the Council meeting, Regional Staff notes that an analysis “being undertaken as part of the Integrated Growth Management Strategy indicates that the groundwater capacity available in the Town of Milton is likely to have insufficient capacity to service growth to the 2051 planning horizon.” It adds that further investigation is being done to determine how best to service the Town of Milton with water in the future.
Councillor Best says that a change needs to be made, but it’s just a matter of what that change will be.
There are three options for increasing water supply capacity to meet future demand in the Town of Milton’s groundwater serviced area:
- expanding the existing groundwater supply;
- reducing the size of the area serviced by groundwater, and;
- converting the groundwater serviced area to lake-based servicing and decommissioning the groundwater system.
