The Government of Ontario has announced what ‘zone’ Halton is going to be in on Tuesday.
The Stay-at-Home order will be lifted for 27 Public Health Units. Halton is one of them, with our Region moving back into the ‘Red – Control Zone’. The provincial government’s updated COVID-19 framework notes that the red zone will bring:
- broader-scale measures and restrictions, across multiple sectors, to control transmission;
- Restrictions are the most severe available before wide scale business or organizational closure.
That means that businesses will be able to open but will be very limited in terms of how many people can be allowed inside.
Restaurants will be allowed for patrons to eat inside, but they can only allow up to ten people at a time.
Team sports must not be practiced or played except for training (no games or scrimmage). The following will apply for fitness facilities:
- 10 people in indoor areas with weights and exercise machines;
- 10 people in all indoor classes, or;
- 25 people in outdoor classes
- No spectators permitted, however each person under 18 may be accompanied by one parent or guardian.
There will be a capacity limit for meetings and event spaces:
- 10 people indoors, or;
- 25 people outdoors.
Supermarkets will now be restricted to 75% capacity if they primarily sell groceries, convenience stores, pharmacies. It will now be 50% capacity for all other retail, including discount and big box retailers, liquor stores, hardware stores and garden centres.
