There are just four new cases of COVID-19 in Milton today.
The sharp drop is a sign that the stay-at-home orders are working. Our town’s total count is up to 2612 cases. With 2410 resolved cases and 31 deaths, Milton is now at 171 active cases – 18 less than yesterday.
Unfortunately, that means Milton has two new deaths today. One of the deaths is linked to the outbreak at Allendale, the second of the outbreak. It’s currently unknown if the death was a resident, staff member, or ‘Non-Halton’ case. Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 13 reported cases at Allendale. Seven are residents, one is a staff member, three are unspecified, and the other two are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
The other institutional outbreak is at Revera Birkdale Place. Since December 16th, there have been 57 cases reported. 40 of the cases have been residents, eleven have been staff members, three are unspecified, and three are ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has been one death associated to the outbreak at the retirement home. It was a resident.
On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 152 total cases reported during this outbreak. 94 have been residents, six have been staff members, three are currently unspecified, and 49 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Across Halton, there are 52 new cases. The total number is now 8290 cases. With 7678 resolved cases and 160 deaths, Halton is now at 452 active cases – nine less than yesterday.
There are five new deaths being reported in Halton. Two of them, as mentioned, are Milton residents. The other three appear to be Burlington residents, giving the city 38 deaths total. Halton Hills also has 38 deaths. Oakville has the most deaths among Halton municipalities with 53 total.
